Epsom salt can be used safely in several ways, mainly externally as a bath soak or foot soak.
How to Use Epsom Salt
Bath Soak: Add 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salt to warm bathwater (a standard tub) and soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes. The water should be comfortably warm, not hot. This helps relieve muscle aches, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.
Foot Soak: Add about 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to a basin of warm water and soak feet for 20 to 30 minutes to ease soreness and improve foot health.
Exfoliation: Mix Epsom salt with a carrier oil (like coconut or olive oil) and use it as a gentle scrub to exfoliate the skin.
Compress: Dissolve 1 cup of Epsom salt in 1 quart of warm water, soak a towel in it, and apply as a compress to sore areas for 15 to 30 minutes.
Precautions
Avoid Epsom salt baths if you have open wounds, infected skin, severe burns, or severe skin inflammation.
Consult a doctor if pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you have kidney issues.
